A Lightweight Down Comforter is definiteley the way to go when looking for the ideal comforter for your bed. The most common kind of Lightweight Down Comforter is one where the filling comes fromthe soft down of the goose. The main reason for this, is that not only is the goose down incredibly warm it is also extremely lightweight and breathable. I mean, have you ever seen a goose wearing a sweater!
These are the main reasons that lightweight down comforters are primarily made from goose down but it is not the only option. You can get them filled with small feathers from other birds as well as an increasing number of synthetic down comforters too which are normally cheaper than the goose option, but if you really want the ultimate in luxury while sleeping then the goose down comforter is the way to go.
When deciding on your comforter there are several options you need to consider, and these options will to a large extent determine how much you have to pay for your lightweight down comforter. The cheaper versions are normally made from all synthetic fibers. Next up would be a mix of down and feathers. Now even if you have a completely down filled comforter it will contain some small feathers but this is option is more likely to be a 50/50 mix.
The last and most expensive option is the full goose down option. Obviously down is more expensive than feathers but the results you receive are worth it in my opinion. Because down is a lot lighter and fluffier you will get a lot more warmth for the same fill and also becuase of their consistency your comforter will be a lot less "stiff" than duck the feathered or synthetic options.
Now there is or at least was one drawback to goose down comforters and that was due to allergies. Obviously if you had an allergy to goose down then you would not be able to choose this option but there is no need to worry any more as there are now an ever increasing number of hypoallergenic lightweight down comforters so you too can have the perfect night sleep.
